M.A.D.E. Roller Derby was founded in 2007. SJRD was one of the original members of this new rule set. While, FSRD did not exist back then, a handful of our skaters were a part of NY’s original M.A.D.E. team Man’s Ruin Roller Derby. A lot has happened in over a decade but this brief history lesson is important when discussing the rivalry between these two teams.

In October 2018, we beat SJRD 89-60. In June 2019, we won 84-69. Now, February 2020, we went into this game feeling good. For at least 2 years we had a winning record against them on our home track. The game started off evenly matched with both teams alternating lead during the first two quarters. By half time, the score was tied 35-35. It’s hard to say what happened the second half. Did South Jersey ramp it up? Did our endurance get the better of us? Who knows, maybe both or neither are true. The only definite is the final score, 42-64. South Jersey Roller Derby took home the win. Are we disappointed? Maybe a little. Are we upset? No, it’s South Jersey, they’ll be back 😉.

Congratulations to our MVPs. FSRD’s Betty Rage and SJRD’s Rolling Thunder received the reward for best blockers. MVP Jammer awards went to FSRD’s Alovicious Snuffleupagus and Silver.
